Health isn’t about quick fixes or rigid rules.
It’s about small, simple choices — repeated daily — that add up to a vibrant, active life. That’s the heart of Enriched Being.

We’re Tara and Paul — husband and wife, founders of Enriched Being, and lifelong believers that food has the power to heal, energise, and transform lives.

Tara’s Journey

In 2014, I began suffering with severe mouth ulcers (sometimes as many as 20 at once) and a persistent rash on my stomach. For six months I went back and forth to doctors and hospitals, but every test came back inconclusive. Eventually, I sought the advice of a private nutritionist, who suggested I cut out gluten and dairy. Almost overnight, my symptoms disappeared — and for the first time, I experienced how food could be medicine.

That experience lit a fire in me. But I don’t believe in removing food groups long-term or being overly prescriptive. Today I eat both gluten and dairy without issue. What I do believe in is diversity: a plant-forward diet rich in vegetables, herbs, seeds, nuts, and legumes. These foods feed our microbiome, support balance, and bring variety and joy back to eating.

This philosophy guided me to train as a Nutrition Coach, explore continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), and study the effects of food on blood sugar and energy. Reading The Glucose Revolution, I learned how eating greens before a meal can reduce sugar spikes — which led me to microgreens, proven to contain up to 40x the nutrients of mature plants. I started growing them for myself, then family, then chefs… and from there, Enriched Being was born.

Paul’s Journey

My story begins with science. I studied Biology at York University and later completed an MSc in Aquaculture and Fisheries at Bangor, fascinated by how living systems thrive or fail depending on their environment.

But health became personal when I developed slipped discs and, later, arthritis in my hips. At times, the pain does slow me down — but it has also fuelled my determination to find natural ways to manage and improve it. Through food, movement, and lifestyle changes, I’ve learned how to keep myself strong, mobile, and moving forward.

Wanting to deepen and update my knowledge, I retrained and completed a Diploma in Biomedicine, focusing on inflammation, metabolic health, and the root causes of chronic disease. Science keeps me curious, but lived experience keeps me grounded: health isn’t just about adding years to life, it’s about adding life to years.

A Shared Mission

Like you, we want to stay strong, vibrant, and active for decades to come. But today’s food system doesn’t make it easy — it’s full of preservatives, pesticides, plastics, and confusing health claims that put profit before people.

The truth is, without making changes now, many of us will face the reality of declining energy, mobility, and health earlier than we should.

That’s why Enriched Being exists: to help you take back control with simple, natural steps that make a real difference.

We’re also kept on our toes by our two lovely (and sometimes demanding!) Scotties, who make sure we take time out every day to walk in nature, breathe, and stay grounded. Those simple daily rituals remind us that living well is about balance, not extremes.
